With the increased usage of mechanised farming techniques in recent times, agricultural production has witnessed rapid expansion. The term ‘agricultural products’ includes both raw and finished product categories, under certain broad classifications such as plant, animal and other forms of life. Use of agrochemical products such as fertilisers and pesticides has led to a considerable increase in crop yields and this has, in turn, enhanced agricultural productivity.
Various types of feedstuff such as rice, wheat, cereals, fruits, vegetables, edible oil, beverages, flowers, processed food and snacks, milk and dairy products, meat and poultry products, marine products, and so on, can all be clubbed under the broad category of ‘agricultural products’. The entire process of agriculture generates an overwhelming number of employment opportunities for a large section of the population. Indian agricultural production is increasing day by day, helped by newer technological innovations and major areas of government support.
