The meat industry in India is still at a nascent stage of development and needs to be expanded further to gain a significant share of worldwide meat production. The major problems faced by the meat industry include low standards of hygiene, lack of a stable processing and cold storage network and widespread wastage of meat. At the same time, the poultry industry is one of the most rapidly expanding divisions of the country’s agro-based industry. In fact, India is one of the largest global producers of eggs and broilers.
