			Housewares as a separate section of the overall Indian retailing industry, came into focus only recently, as the average household had more disposable income and underwent a change in lifestyle preferences. As convenience, style and price become the key influencers of the domestic housewares segment, such items are increasingly being manufactured to cater to more than just the functional requirements of the Indian consumer. However, a large part of the industry continues to be dominated by the unorganised sector, as people normally prefer to purchase housewares from small and wayside establishments.
