Apart from their industrial and commercial applications, fuel cells are also required in the captive power generation process. In India, the fuel cell industry has displayed rapid growth across the transport and power generation sectors. This is because the public and private sectors have increasingly realised the importance of fuel cells as a source of clean and renewable energy and an alternative to fossil fuel. Fuel cells are expected to contribute in a major way towards captive power generation in India in future. Other segments such as India’s nascent electric car industry are also poised to benefit from the fuel cell technology. The industry needs to keep costs under control if it has to progress towards mass production of fuel cells in the coming years. Hide this
