The market for building materials in India has improved at a rapid pace in recent years, largely due to the rapid urbanisation of the country and the significant increase in the number of construction-related projects. Building materials industry has also received a major boost from government-initiated housing development projects in rural as well as in urban areas. The domestic building materials industry is striving to deliver innovative products that are cost efficient as well as environment friendly. Some of the recent trends include production of building materials that are based on agricultural-industrial waste matter. Bricks that are based on flyash, bagasse boards and bamboo-based materials are some instances of such building materials.
