India is a huge market for the allergy/immunology business, and the industry has recorded a healthy growth rate on a year-on-year basis. The growing health consciousness among the people, coupled with more available income to spare on diagnostic services, have boosted the immunology business within the country. The Indian immunology market segment is dominated by ELISA and semi-quantitative methods. In recent years, older techniques such as radio-immunoassay (RIA) are increasingly giving way to newer technologies such as chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) and immuno-fluorescence immunoassay (IFA) that are gaining prominence.
