One of the largest service industries in the country, travel and tourism services generate employment among a large section of the population and are also a significant contributor to the gross domestic product (GDP). Travel services have prospered in recent years largely due to the rising income levels among the population and a marked improvement in the country’s travel-based infrastructure.
Travel services in India include different categories of services such as tour operators, personal and business travel agencies and transport service providers. The last category comprises car rental agencies, rail companies, airline companies and cruise lines.
