The Indian process industry has undergone rapid transformation in recent years and encompasses a wide range of applications in diverse sectors such as petrochemicals, steel, oil, fertilisers, dairy and chemicals. Other important sectors which are process-driven include food processing and agricultural processing. The entire process industry is in a constant state of technological upgradation as it attempts to match up to international standards. For instance, the growing importance of the country’s fast food sector has given rise to the need for efficient food processing procedures. On the other hand, agricultural processing is very important for the proper conservation and handling of all agricultural produce. The agro processing industry essentially converts the agricultural produce into food, fuel or other forms of industrial raw materials.
