The entire healthcare industry in India is dominated by the presence of government hospitals, but the situation is rapidly changing with the growth of a number of private hospitals, that also include super specialty medical facilities. This has also resulted in better patient care facilities in terms of the latest and technologically advanced medical equipment. At the same time, these government and private hospitals are mainly prevalent in urban and semi-urban areas. An overwhelmingly large majority of the Indian population that resides in remote, rural areas still has access to only primary healthcare facilities, creating an urgent need to set up hospitals in these areas. Moreover, there is a need for more trained medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, in the hospitals located within the country. This is because of the grossly unequal patient to doctor ratio in India. Unhygienic conditions prevailing in most government hospitals also makes them the less preferred choice among the masses, as long as they can afford treatment in private hospitals. Hide this
