Aircraft manufacturing is now a major industry division in India, and has attracted the attention of a lot of big foreign players in this market. This is largely due to the encouragement received from the government, as well as the growth in civil aviation within the country. India is considered to be a less expensive aircraft manufacturing destination than other countries, because of the availability of cheap labour and a robust engineering and information technology infrastructure. The country has also made rapid strides in the manufacture of military aircraft and their maintenance and repair services, which in itself is a separate industry.
