Education is considered to be the backbone of a country’s socio-economic development and is also one of its major indicators. The higher the literacy rate of a country, the lower will be the birth rate, resulting in a self-sufficient, more productive population. Although the Indian education sector has made rapid improvement in recent times, government-sponsored or public education is largely considered to be insufficient in fulfilling the needs of the ever-growing population. This has led to an overwhelming majority of the population spending a large amount of money on quality private education for their children. This is despite the fact that the country possesses some of the best internationally reputed educational institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The private educational sector in India is poised for tremendous potential growth, which also opens up a lot of opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI). In fact, the entire education system of the country is facing a lot of problems in the form of outdated rules and regulations, inefficient management, lack of higher level education, and so on.
