Business services refer to services rendered to business category customers and include employment services, telecommunications, information technology, transportation, education and training, travel and tourism, consultancy, real estate, financial services, legal services and so on. Helped by the rising income levels and the economic growth of the country, business services have contributed significantly to its gross domestic product (GDP). The entire sector has been further boosted by the rise in export-import activities and growth of trading, post the economic liberialisation of the 1990’s. This has, in turn, led to significant foreign direct investment (FDI) into the sector. The availability of cheap labour and a healthy competitive environment have also contributed towards the growth of business services within the country. However, the recent worldwide economic recession has negatively impacted the business services sector to some extent.
