India is one of the largest global producers of fruits and vegetables, and a large part of the country’s total produce is exported to various destinations. Apart from being a major revenue contributor, the fruits and vegetables segment provides employment to a large section of the country’s population. The diversity of the country’s climate makes it possible to grow a large variety of fruits and green vegetables. More capacity generation initiatives, upgradation of technology and scientific methods of farming will ensure greater yield of such products in the near future. Indian vegetables are largely grown under field conditions and less in greenhouse conditions as in some other countries of the world. Hide this
