The high incidence of diabetes in India has significantly boosted the market for glucose testing in India. In medical terms, a glucose test refers to a form of blood test that is employed to determine the amount of glucose that is present in a patient’s blood. Glucose tests are primarily conducted to screen for diabetes or any form of prediabetes. These tests are also very useful for people with a known diabetic condition, as it helps in regular monitoring of their blood glucose levels. Glucose tests can be broadly classified into a number of tests that include fasting blood sugar test, glucose tolerance test, random glucose test and postprandial glucose test. In India, apart from the rising diabetic population, the market for glucose testing is being further boosted by the lack of any specific cure for diabetes, increasing health awareness of patients and very limited penetration of glucose monitoring kits.
