The toys and games industry in India continues to record healthy growth. The primary factors fueling growth include higher disposable income among the country’s middle-class and entry of foreign players leading to availability of better quality products.
An increased awareness on safety issues, especially child safety, has prompted consumers to incline towards branded products. Toys falling under specific categories such as pre-school toys and scientific games that promote learning are also witnessing growth in demand. At the same time, a major portion of the toys and games market is dominated by the unorganised sector, which also means that the entire tax burden is borne by the organised section of the industry.
The mobile and online gaming industry is also expanding rapidly due to an increasing number of Internet users in the country. However, the low Internet penetration level, especially in rural areas, leaves a lot of potential for growth.
