The Indian valves industry has made rapid progress in recent years and is set to achieve considerable future growth, based on the increase in investments made in infrastructural development, oil and gas and the power sectors, in particular. This has led to heightened demand for high quality industrial valves within the country. India has recently emerged as a major hub of good quality valve manufacturing mainly because it enjoys certain specific advantages over its foreign counterparts such as low cost of labour, availability of skilled workforce and a significant price advantage.
However, the recent increase in steel prices have posed major problems for the domestic valves industry, as it has led to higher input costs and thereby, lower profit margins.
