As with any other government in the world, the Indian government also has a set of regulations to monitor various aspects of personal and professional life. These regulations are enforced and monitored by a set of government-appointed regulatory bodies set up for the purpose. Some of the well-known regulatory bodies in India include the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, Registrar of Companies, India, the Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Apart from these, there are various laws put in place by the government to regulate various aspects of public and professional life. The Contract Labour Act and the Minimum Wages Act enacted with the purpose of regulating employment within the country fall under this category.
