The lighting equipment manufacturing industry in India is still at a nascent stage of development and has huge potential for growth, given the increasing industrialisation and rapid rise of residential projects in the country. The industry covers a wide range of sectors including residential, industrial, commercial and outdoor lighting. Some of the components manufactured by the industry include standard light bulbs, tubes, all related fittings and fixtures, electric and neon signs, spotlights, and so on. Recently, a lot of emphasis has been laid on energy-efficient sources of lighting. Solar lighting has attained particular significance since it is energy as well as cost efficient, along with being conducive to the warm and sunny weather prevailing in the country. A large portion of all electric lighting products that are sold comprise residential, non-residential as well as street lighting components.
