The Indian fertiliser industry has progressed at a decent rate in recent years, although it is a facing a number of issues at present. The green revolution in the country gave a boost to the domestic fertiliser industry. India presently has a large number of fertiliser plants that manufacture urea, ammonium sulphate, calcium ammonium nitrate, DAP and other fertiliser products. It has been generally felt that the government should increase its investments in the fertiliser industry, as the industry has been bearing the subsidy burden, is faced with outdated infrastructure and also has a non-competitive nature. More investment in potash projects would also provide a major boost to the country’s fertiliser sector. Hide this
