Increasing use of technology, customised services and various levels of pricing have marked the advent of the new age hospitality industry in India. Hotels have witnessed a significant variety of categorisation, from luxury, upscale properties to boutique and budget hotels. The availability of more disposable income among a large section of the population and the increasing advent of foreigners to India have together proved to be major incentives in the growth of the domestic hotel industry. At the same time, the recent worldwide economic slowdown has negatively affected the country’s hotel industry, leading to lower room and occupancy rates.
