India is one of the leaders in stem cell research on a worldwide basis. Stem cell therapy is also a part of the overall process of development of regenerative medicines that includes tissue engineering, nanoscience and bio-engineering for cell and tissue repair. Although still at a nascent stage of growth, stem cell therapy is being increasingly applied through clinical trials against a range of human physical disorders such as cardiac, respiratory, neural, gastro-intestinal and several other forms of diseases.
