Waste management efforts in India continue to be at a nascent stage, despite the fact that the per capita rate of waste generation is growing by leaps and bounds with the increase in the country’s population. The present solid waste management systems implemented are inadequate to cater to the needs of the country, resulting in pollution and health hazards on a large scale. Improper solid waste management also leads to degradation of our existing natural resources and the climate getting affected in a negative manner. Going forward, the method of waste collection needs to be made more efficient and the government also needs to allocate more funds for the purpose.
