The environmental services sector has witnessed robust growth in recent years, mainly due to the increase in population and urbanisation of the country, which has, in turn, put a strain on its natural resources. Technological upgradation has also contributed towards development of newer ways to combat environmental issues. The environmental services sector can be broadly categorised into the service segment and the equipment segment. Environmental services include certain categories of services such as waste water treatment, pollution control, waste management, remediation and so on. All these services are designed to comply with currently enforced environmental norms and regulations and to maximise energy efficiency. The environmental services industry in India comprises large and relatively smaller engineering firms.
