Motion picture is a sub-category of films, but basically the two mean the same thing. The film and motion picture industry is one of the largest industries in India, providing direct and indirect employment to a large number of people all over the country. Filmmaking is considered to be both an art as well as an industry in India. In fact, the film industry at Mumbai that is popularly known as ‘Bollywood’, is one of the largest motion picture industries worldwide. Apart from this, films are also produced in almost all regional languages within the country. However, film production is a highly risky proposition as there can be significant cost overruns and the entire effort may result in losses if the film is not declared a ‘hit’.
