In India, information technology, telecom and electronics industries have recorded high level of growth, following the economic liberalisation of the country. Revised government policies and a change in the regulatory framework have largely helped in the development of these industries, which are central to the economic prosperity of the country. The development of information technology has successfully made the country’s economy a knowledge-based one. However, recent sluggish economic growth has led to a slowdown in hiring in the IT-ITES sectors and reduced foreign participation to some extent.
