Along with the rest of the world, India also witnessed a gradual transfer in the areas of tape, video and dvd, as all these formats attained massive popularity at certain periods of time before being phased out. However, dvds continue to be one of the most commonly used modes of entertainment, as against vcds and cassettes that were popular some time back. Tape usually refers to a particular strip of rolled up long, thin and narrow material. The most common usage of the word tape has been that of ‘cassette tape’ which is a magnetic tape format for sound recording. Video, on the other hand, is a particular form of technology that allows a person to electronically capture, record, process, store and transmit a number of still images that represent scenes in motion. Digital video disk or DVD is a format for storage that uses an optical disc. DVDs have a much higher storage capacity than compact discs.
