Genomics is still at a nascent stage in India and its main application lies in the field of pharmaceutical research and development (R&D;) initiatives. Genomics as a discipline attempts to establish the overall DNA sequence of various types of organisms and carry out a genetic mapping procedure. A lot of Indian companies in the field of genomics are increasingly adopting solutions based on NGS or next generation sequencing procedures. Other products commonly associated with the domestic genomic research scenario include single cell genomics, strain typing, in-situ gene expression and some other techniques.
