With India’s population increasing at a rapid pace and the per capita area of land decreasing day by day, the agrochemicals and fertilisers industry is assuming massive significance. India is one of the biggest producers of agrochemical products worldwide, but there is still immense potential and space to grow. The factors which have helped the growth of this industry have been the comparatively cost effective manufacturing procedures and cheap labour available in the country. A large part of the agrochemical and fertilisers production is also exported from India every year. However, there are a lot of obstacles that the industry needs to overcome before it can attain international standards. With a large part of the industry being unorganised, spurious products are often a major cause for concern. Production of environmentally safe pesticides is another area the industry needs to concentrate upon. On the whole, there should be increased awareness among farmers to promote more use of pesticides and similar agrochemical products. Hide this
