Infrastructure finance is also known as project finance. Simply put, infrastructure finance refers to the funds that are invested in development of large-scale, capital-intensive infrastructure projects. These projects almost always cover a long duration of time and thus require considerable infusion of capital at regular intervals. A number of banks and other financial institutions provide infrastructure finance services. In India, a number of semi-government and private enterprise-related projects require infrastructure finance. Some of the key components of infrastructure finance include risk identification and allocation. These risks might be technical, economic, environmental or political in nature.
