Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a form of fuel that is used in vehicles and heating appliances. India is one of the largest consumers of LPG along with the US, Japan and China. The majority of LPG supply in the country is directed towards the domestic sector. In fact, the demand for domestic LPG supply is so high that it often exceeds supply. The production of LPG in the country is dominated by state-run companies, with the private sector accounting for the rest. At the same time, the commercial and industrial demand for LPG is increasingly rapidly within the country. The other major demand for LPG is for automobile fuel, in which case it is known as autogas or auto propane.
