The advent of computers has changed the face of modern Indian society and brought about a drastic change in its work culture as well. Computing technologies have a wide variety of applications in areas as diverse as meteorology, defense, remote sensing, statistical analysis and so on. The information technology sector in India has achieved worldwide appreciation and is largely export-driven. At the same time, a substantial amount of overall revenue is also generated from domestic clients spanning a wide of range of industries. Computing technologies have significantly contributed to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and employment generation process. The overall industry has, however, been impacted by the recent worldwide financial crisis, that has led to reduced orders, low hiring and a surplus workforce.
